QUANTUM SPEED™ CONGRATULATES ITS SKATING STUDENT DYLAN RICHARD FOR SUCCESS ON THE ICE AT THE 2012 WORLD JUNIOR A CHALLENGE
EDMONTON, Alta. – The team at Quantum Speed™ High Performance Skating Systems congratulates skating student Dylan Richard for his silver medal performance with Canada West at the 2012 World Junior A Challenge, which took place November 5-11 in Yarmouth, N.S.
Richard, from Sherwood Park, Alta., has been a Quantum Speed™ student for 10 years and in addition to being selected for one of two Canadian rosters that competed in the recent seven-day international tournament, plays forward for the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League).
The 2012 World Junior A Challenge featured six teams, including Canada West along with Canada East, the Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and the United States. Richard’s team blanked the Czech Republic 7-0 and edged Russia 4-3 in overtime to earn a berth into semifinals, then topping Canada East 1-0 to advance to the gold medal game. Canada West fell 6-3 to the United States and claimed the silver medal. Richard notched one goal and added three assists for four points in four games.
Canada West assistant coach Jason McKee, of Irma, Alta., also coaches the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints and has worked with Quantum Speed™ at The Hockey Program at Vimy Ridge Academy in Edmonton, Alta.
“We are so proud to have worked with Dylan and Jason, and now see them succeed on the international hockey stage,” Quantum Speed™ General Manager Vanessa Hettinger said. “We know and respect the amount of work that they have done to get to where they are right now and applaud their focus and commitment to excellence.”
